The Problem

We have observed with great concern that the current traditional education system and the teaching methodologies adopted by our schools are not meeting the learning needs of many learners, especially those who exhibit right-brain dominance. The current teaching method primarily engages the left side of the brain, leaving a significant number of children who are natural right-brain learners struggling in their classes

The Effects on the Learners

The impact of current traditional teaching methods on learners is deeply concerning. Many natural right-brain dominant children, who typically make up about 90% of the student population in every class, find their learning needs unmet in the teaching process. When the right side of the brain isn't engaged during instruction, it naturally seeks attention.

This is why most right-brain children may start doodling in their notes, tapping their legs, or rhythmically tapping on their desks during class. As this behaviour continues, teachers often label these right-brain learners as 'unfocused,' 'dumb,' or having a 'short attention span.'

However, it's essential to recognize that they are not intellectually challenged, nor do they have attention problems. Instead, it is the teaching method itself that fails to engage them where they excel—on the right side of the brain.

To effectively engage the right side of the brain, teaching should incorporate elements such as creativity, colour, imagination, daydreaming, storytelling, rhythm, and movement.
